Who we are

Skellig Michael Island Tours is a family-run boat tour company based at The Marina, Portmagee, Co. Kerry, Ireland. We are responsible for the personal information described in this policy.

What information we collect

We only collect the information we need to answer your questions and run your trip.

  • When you contact us. If you use the form on our website, email us or phone us, we keep your name, your email address or phone number, and what you tell us in your message.
  • When you book. To book a tour we need your name, your contact details, the tour and date, and the number of people in your group. We may also ask about anything that affects your safety on the trip.
  • When you pay. If you pay by card, your card details are handled by our payment provider. We do not keep full card numbers.
  • When you visit our website. We use Plausible Analytics to count visits to our pages. It does not use cookies and does not collect personal information. It only gives us totals, such as how many people visited a page.

Why we use your information

  • To reply to your questions.
  • To take and manage your booking, and to contact you about it. For example, we may need to move your trip if the sea is not safe.
  • To keep the records that Irish law requires, such as tax records.

We do not use your information for marketing unless you ask us to. We do not sell your information.

Our legal reasons for using your information

Under data protection law, including the GDPR, we must have a legal reason to use your information.

  • To deal with your enquiry or booking. We use your information to do what you ask us to do and to carry out our contract with you.
  • To meet legal duties. We keep some records because the law requires it.
  • With your consent. When you tick the box on our contact form, you agree that we can keep your details to reply to you. You can withdraw your consent at any time.

Who we share your information with

We only share your information with companies that help us run our business, and only as much as they need.

  • The company that hosts our website.
  • Our email provider.
  • Our booking and payment providers, when you book or pay.

These companies must keep your information safe and only use it for the work they do for us. We may also share information when the law requires it, for example with the emergency services or the authorities.

Some of these companies may store information outside the European Economic Area. When they do, they must use the safeguards that data protection law requires.

Fonts on our website

The fonts on our website are stored on our own website. Loading a page does not send your information to Google or any other font service.

We do not use cookies to track you or to show you adverts. Our website analytics do not use cookies.

How long we keep your information

  • We keep messages from our contact form and emails for up to 2 years, then delete them.
  • We keep booking and payment records for 6 years, because Irish tax law requires it.

  • You can ask us to delete your information.
  • You can ask us to limit how we use your information.
